About the role

As a Senior Business Analyst within HMCTS, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. This will involve you identifying the requirements and the benefits of introducing new business solutions to the different services operating within HMCTS.
You will take responsibility for leading defined areas of work, whilst operating within a team of Business Analysts, Business Architects, Service Design and Project Delivery Managers. The role will encompass engagement with suppliers, alongside a range of HMCTS stakeholders and partners who will be impacted by the introduction new IT services and legislative changes.
You will be part of a dynamic team, working in a fast-paced environment and putting the users at the heart of the design.

Key Responsibilities:

Your role as the Senior Business Analyst encompasses several key aspects (but not limited to):
•    Leading the requirements engineering, stakeholder management, process modelling, and investigations required to support the introduction of new business solutions into HMCTS services.
•    Ensure business needs captured align with HMCTS strategy and vision as documented within the Target Operating Model.
•    Establish an integrated view of the overall solution & enterprise design to meet both business and technical needs.
•    Facilitating stakeholder workshops to identify the user and business needs and ensure alignment among stakeholders.
•    Engagement with Service representatives to gather and document the business requirements, ensuring they are clearly understood and accurately communicated.
 
•    Development and documentation of end-to-end business processes, providing both the current As Is position and the target end state.
•    Evaluating existing business processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend process optimisations.
•    Work closely with Project Managers, developers, suppliers, and other team members to ensure requirements have been fully met as the business solutions are developed and deployed.
•    Supporting the management of design issues raised by HMCTS partners and business stakeholders, providing options, and recommending solutions.
•    Leading discussions with other projects to identify where there are dependencies with the solutions and documenting these dependencies within the business process design.
•    Identification and documentation of business scenarios that support the User Acceptance Testing.
•    Managing and documenting the design issues raised during User Acceptance Testing, supporting the Service Design Managers to provide issue resolution that meet the user and business needs.
•    Manage the transition of users to operate the new business solutions.
•    Evaluation of the business benefits that are delivered once the new business solutions are operational across the reformed service areas.
•    Potential for Line Management of other Business Analysts within the team.

Other Duties:

The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate:

Essential

•    Knowledge of working in a large digital organisation and how the operate.
•    Experience in the application of business analysis tools and methodologies.
•    Previous experience of working across senior technical and business stakeholders ensuring the understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria is aligned.
•    Expertise in leading workshops, meetings and discussions to gather requirements and provide feedback to a wide range of audiences.
•    Experience of using analytical skills to find solutions by interpreting complex data.
•    Ability to think strategically and understand the broader business context.
•    Ability to create clear and concise documentation, reports and presentations.
•    Proven track record of managing product lifecycles ensuring full alignment with wider Departmental strategy.

Desirable

•    Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders.
•    Problem solving with the ability to break down complex problems.
•    Working within a team to achieve common goals.

Further details

Occasional travel to national HMCTS sites and quarterly meetings in London.
