About the role
We have an opportunity to join our Capital and Major Projects team, within the Property Directorate, as a Project Manager. Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering multiple capital improvement projects across the HMCTS estate ensuring buildings are delivered to the highest standards to provide access to justice in welcoming, clean, safe and well maintained environments.
You will be capable of managing complex projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Your role as the Property Project Manager encompasses several key aspects (but not limited to):
- Define and document scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents
- Effectively set and communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths
- Plan and schedule timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
- Take ownership and responsibility in terms of time, quality and cost for all assigned projects or workstreams within larger projects
- Execute lifecycle in accordance with in-house processes
- Take an active role in supporting procurement of third party services and ensuring commercial controls are adequate for delivering
- Provide effective risk management
- Complete all relevant training provided to complete your role effectively
What are we looking for? (Person Specification)
The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate:
Essential
- Knowledge and understanding of major property capital projects in the context of this role.
- Ability to work with technical and business stakeholders to develop requirements and interpret between them.
- The capability to be responsible for deciding direction and methodology.
- Ability to successfully deliver a property capital project or workstream.
- Experience of progress reporting, drafting papers, etc., for senior management review and consideration.
- Proven ability to drive through significant change facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, whilst maintaining strong relationships, to achieve agreed outcomes.
Desirable
- Holds or is working towards formal project management qualification within the Government Property Profession Career Framework or equivalent (e.g. RICS, IWFM, APM).
- Previous experience of working on major property capital projects, or demonstrable
Further details
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake occasional site visits and may be required to travel to HMCTS sites within and outside their region in line with business needs.
