We offer a hybrid working model that provides flexibility to our colleagues in terms of how they work, as long as it meets the needs of both the individual and the organisation. Whilst some opt to do the majority of their work from home, others opt to blend home and office working to suit their specific needs. Your contractual base will be either Meadowbank House, Edinburgh EH8 7AU or St Vincent Plaza, Glasgow G2 5LD. You may be required to visit one of these locations when it is deemed necessary, however this is role dependant.

About this Role:
A product manager defines, owns, and solve problems. They manage a product through discovery, alpha, beta, and live states. They support the Senior Product Managers and may line manage Associate Product Managers and support their professional development. They have a deep knowledge of product management techniques and are developing expert skills.  

We are looking to recruit a product manager to work within the Other Registers domain. The Other Registers domain maintains 9 registers meeting a variety of user needs, including the Chancery and Judicial (CAJR) registers, the Register of Persons with a Controlling Interest in Land (RCI) and the community right to buy registers. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team to modernise and iterate on our registers in addition to maintaining our current services.

Main duties:
Your main duties will include: 

• Work with Associate and Senior Product managers with cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes.
• Focus on outcomes and maximising value delivered, whilst understanding what customers need; using an evidence-based approach to manage products and competing priorities.
•Possess strong stakeholder management skills, ideally developed through working in a multi-stakeholder environment.
•Have highly developed analytical skills and arrive to conclusions by making evidence-based decisions that are data focused.
•Take a global view of their domain, bearing in mind the wider context of the work and how this impacts the overall user experience of the services their products support.
•Possess the ability to triage live issues and balance the need for adjustments against in-flight commitments.
• Build relationships with customers and stakeholders and place them at the centre of the decision-making process.
• Are aware of prioritising spend based on ROI and strategic intent.
• Participate in the product community of practice at RoS
•Represent RoS at Scottish, UK and international events, if required, specific to their areas of work. 
• May have future line management responsibility in relation to Associate Product Managers.

Technical/Experience
•Previous experience in a Product Management role
•Knowledge of Agile and Lean practices

•Understanding the wider context of the work and able to recognise and communicate risks and issues early

•Take ownership and accountability for the contents of the product backlog working closely with the Senior Product Manager
•Work with technical teams to manage Technical Debt, balancing the need for enhancements against the cost of maintaining existing products

Assessment
Candidates will be assessed against the essential criteria for the role and competencies as stated above. We will invite suitable candidates to an assessment centre on the 19th and 21st November, though this is subject to confirmation.

Assessments are likely to include a competency based interview and an assessment exercise, details of which will be shared with candidates who successfully make it through the sift stage. Assessments and appointments are made in line with the Civil Service Recruitment Principles, in strict merit order.
