Job summary

Ofgem is leading the charge to ensure robust, evidence-based regulation of the UK’s energy market, safeguarding consumers and driving economic growth. We’re looking for a Head of Regulatory Economics to join us and play a pivotal role in shaping the analytical framework that underpins our most important decisions.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers - especially vulnerable people.

We’re offering a permanent role that puts you at the heart of decision-making processes that impact millions. You’ll lead a highly skilled team and collaborate across the organisation to improve analytical capabilities, ensuring that our policies and regulatory stances are backed by robust economic evidence. This role offers the unique opportunity to make your mark on high-profile projects that will shape the future of energy regulation.

You'll be part of a supportive and forward-thinking environment that encourages innovation and professional growth. As a leader in the Office for Research and Economics, you’ll provide assurance on major analytical projects and build meaningful connections with academics and industry experts. This is a rare chance to influence significant regulatory reforms and work on projects that have national and international implications.

We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in economic analysis, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work flexibly across multiple projects. You should be adept at synthesising complex data into insights for senior leaders and external audiences, while also building strong working relationships both within and outside Ofgem.

In addition to flexible working options, you’ll benefit from a competitive salary, an excellent pension scheme, and a commitment to work-life balance. We also invest in the continuous development of our people, offering further training and opportunities to enhance your career in a vibrant and meaningful environment.

We have a critical purpose to enhance our economic analysis and ensure the quality and integrity of our regulatory decisions. As Head of Regulatory Economics, you’ll lead initiatives that support the UK’s ambitious energy goals and safeguard the interests of consumers.
