Job description
The Internal Auditor will be part of the small Government’s Internal Audit team giving an objective and evidence-based opinion on all aspects of governance, risk management and internal control. The post holder’s primary role will be to provide support to the Chief Internal Auditor and Trainee Internal Auditor to deliver the strategic audit plan and conduct reviews and investigations as required.
The Internal Auditor will report to the Financial Secretary but will have a very strong working line relationship with the Governments external support provided by the UK Government Internal Audit Agency. Whilst reporting to the Financial Secretary on an administrative basis, the Internal Auditor, in compliance with Internal Audit Standards, operates in a fully independent capacity and ensures there is no undue influence placed on the audit team or the work delivered.

Person specification
As the successful candidate you will have the following attributes:
- Hold a recognised audit or accounting qualification (CMIIA, QIAL, PIIA, CAT or AAT or CCAB part-qualified accountant with internal audit experience).
- 5 years plus experience of working in an audit or finance environment.
- Experience of working within the public sector would be an advantage, as would knowledge of IT auditing.
- Flexible in approach and resilient; competent and reliable under pressure.
Benefits
- Fixed Term Contract up to 4 years.
- Starting Salary - £35,274 to £40,668 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) however up to £46,667 may be available for an exceptional candidate.
- Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract.
