Job summary

Are you an experienced Business Analyst?

Do you want to provide insight to help support DWP Staff deliver critical public services?

As a Business Analyst in Communications & Collaboration Services you will be a key part of the team in delivering change within the department.  

You will have an opportunity to show your existing skills delivering Microsoft Teams related Hardware, Software and Services.

Work across the product delivery lifecycle to bring together business needs with technical capabilities, with the goal of defining solutions that deliver value.  

You will be given the opportunity to continue to grow your skills and knowledge through the support of the wider community of practice, additionally you will be, at times, responsible for managing more junior Business Analysts.

Job description

As a Business Analyst working within DWP Digital these are some of the things you will be doing:

  • Evaluate existing services we deliver to internal staff with a view to continually improve the offer.
  • Translate business problems and user needs into a set of detailed requirements to deliver value and great outcomes for our users. 
  • Lead workshops, interviews and focus groups and to effectively understand the business problems and user needs.  
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships. communicating effectively across both technical and business stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to agree roadmap priorities, feeding into delivery plans, new features and products.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post. 

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £40,201 to £43,347.  

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.  

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.  

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater. 

Please note that the pay award decision is still pending and has not yet to be finalised. We will provide an update as soon as a decision has been made. 

Selection process details

Stage 1: Application

Stage 2: Interview

If you’re successful at sift stage, you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the experiences below:

  • Substantial experience of working as a Business Analyst.
  • Experienced in identifying and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Able to identify improvements and make recommendations.

Interviews will take place from mid November 2024.
