Job summary

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is looking for an Intelligence Analyst to join the National Food Crime Unit (NFCU). This team carries out vital work to disrupt and take action against those committing food crimes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1600 people. We play a critical role in protecting public health and consumers’ wider interests in food across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our vision is an important one - to drive change, delivering “food we can trust” and working towards a healthier and more sustainable food system.

If you’re a skilled Intelligence Analyst looking to use their expertise to make a real difference, this could be the role for you!

Job description

Our Intelligence Analyst will support our efforts to identify, disrupt and deter by conducting strategic and tactical analysis of the highest level. Producing detailed reports and presenting findings to colleagues, you’ll be adept at supporting your conclusions with evidence-led reasoning. With your work subject to use as evidence in criminal prosecutions, you’ll play a key role in our efforts to stop food crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.

Your experience will be invaluable to supporting the team’s efforts, using a background in analysis within intelligence or law enforcement environments to offer insight to colleagues and stakeholders across the FSA. You’ll have a keen attention to detail and will offer up key information in accessible and relevant reports.

The NFCU has a distinct and vital role within the FSA, and you will act as its representative in numerous settings, from conferences and meetings to court cases. A talent for effective communication will enable you to help others get the information they need to disrupt food crimes in any setting necessary.

If you are adept at working in team environments and can deliver a quality service at pace to ensure that we can better protect food in the UK, apply today for this important and exciting position in the FSA.

Please read before applying

As this is an investigatory / intelligence role we need to be aware if any of our employees have any of the following: any misconduct or gross misconduct findings or where proceedings are not complete. You will be asked to complete a declaration form covering the above if offered a role with the FSA.

You must declare to the best of your knowledge:

·         Any disciplinary finding of guilt / failure to meet the appropriate standard of conduct relating to your employment you have ever had

·         Any charge of a disciplinary offence / notification of a failure to meet the appropriate standards you have ever had where the case has not yet been concluded

The disclosure of this information will not automatically disbar you from this role but we need to be aware of any event or issue which could impinge on your credibility if questioned in court.
