Job description
The successful candidate can expect to develop extensive knowledge of projects within the People and Operations Committee (POpCo) and Deliver & Risk Committee (DRC) portfolios, tracking performance, managing working relations with project teams, providing advice and support and reporting back on key performance metrics to senior leaders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing relations with individual project leads and teams, acting as a “critical friend”, and can also expect to support the G7 lead on commissioning and interrogating information from project leads and presenting key headlines to POpCo, and working with analytical colleagues to develop products to improve reporting.
The candidate will lead on key reporting on behalf of the Department to central Government through the Government Reporting Integration Platform, and leading on key commissions such as the Outcome Delivery Plan and the DCMS Annual Report.
The Performance Unit is at the forefront of cross-Government plans for Modernisation and Reform, so the candidate can expect to get involved in drafting and coordinating briefings with input from across the Department, often on an ad hoc basis and at considerable pace.

Essential requirements
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads and work flexibility across a number of departmental priorities.
- Responsive, adaptable and comfortable working with changing priorities, situations and deadlines at Pace.
- Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders, presenting in both writing and in person to successfully influence outcomes and/ or unblock critical issues.
- Can quickly grasp complex policy and delivery landscapes and cut through issues.
- Comfortable with numbers, dashboards and data visualisation with the ability to synthesise complex information into simple messages.
- Stakeholder management - comfortable building and maintaining constructive relationships across the department and government, acting as a ‘critical friend’ and providing challenge where needed

Selection process details

- A CV setting out your career history, with key responsibilities and achievements. Please ensure you provide employment history that relates to the essential and desirable criteria, and that any gaps in employment history within the last 2 years are explained. - A Statement of Suitability (max 750 words) explaining how you consider your personal skills, qualities and experience provide evidence of your suitability for the role in reference to the essential requirements highlighted. You may also choose to reference the desirable skills listed however these will not be considered in the assessment of your application except in circumstances where there are a high number and calibre of candidates.
For the shortlist, we will select applicants demonstrating the best fit for the role by considering the evidence provided in your application.
In the event of a large number of applicants, an initial sift will be conducted on the statement of suitability. Those who are successful in the initial sift will then be scored on all elements of the application.

If the vacancy is offered as FTA/Loan, existing Civil Servants must join on a Loan basis only. Prior agreement to be released on loan must be obtained before commencing the application process. In the case of Civil Servants, the terms of the loan will be agreed between the home and host department and the Civil Servant. This includes grade on return.
This role is full time only. Applicants who wish to work an alternative pattern are welcome to apply however your preferred working pattern may not be available and you should discuss this with the vacancy holder before applying.
