We are looking for a Senior Contract Manager to join our team, who will have the opportunity to work in a hands-on role providing contract management to significant contracts, whilst developing your skills in contract and commercial management. Given the nature of the role, you will be required to undertake relevant GCO contract management accreditation.
Job description
Role Overview:
The COHMT commercial team has recently undergone a change to its operating model and is now organised into spend category teams which are supplemented by business partners and embedded commercial teams in specialist areas and programmes. The directorate is supported by a central team responsible for the overall strategy and enabling functions.
You will provide effective contract management of specific suppliers, with a particular focus on centralised cross-government contracts , ensuring that key documentation remains current and accurate and that various elements of the obligations in the contract are delivered. You will work unsupervised on contract administration and support more senior commercial members of the team in meetings and forums that may include every aspect of the provision of a commercial service.

Essential Criteria
● Significant experience in a commercial and/or contract management role where you have demonstrated an analytical approach, good problem-solving and strong negotiation skills;
● Significant understanding of commercial, contract and supplier relationship management techniques and demonstrable experience of applying them in practice;
● Contract management experience, ideally covering the delivery of services through prime suppliers and subcontractors.
● Demonstrable experience of managing the delivery of multiple activities in parallel within a fast-paced environment with limited oversight;
● Understanding of commercial governance and approvals processes
● Experience of building and managing effective relationships with customers, suppliers and senior internal stakeholders;
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
● Proactive and forward thinking;
● Strong IT skills - Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
Desirable Criteria:
● Knowledge of the procurement routes available in Government or experience working in a regulated environment;
● Experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity;
● Hold relevant commercial qualifications such as World Commercial and Contracting Association (WorldCC, formerly IACCM) or CIPS;
● Have already completed or be willing to complete contract management training.
Additional information:
A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.

If successful at application stage, candidates will be invited for interview. The interview will take place via Google Meet video conferencing. You will be expected to give clear examples of previous experience relating to these Behaviours.
