Job summary
The RAF Lossiemouth Accommodation Team are recruiting for a Skill Zone 2 General Hand to join a small team providing support and services to the RAF Lossiemouth Single Living Accommodation (SLA) provision. The team conduct a wide range of SLA related activities within a fully integrated hub. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Accommodation Team.
Accountable for more than 1300 bedspaces, the Accommodation Team are responsible for support in the delivery of Junior Ranks SLA and the booking and allocations for the OM and WOSM. It is vital this is conducted to the highest possible standard. As part of the team, your role is pivotal in ensuring that the day-to-day activity surrounding the JRs SLA provision is managed effectively and efficiently.
As part of a busy and friendly team, your role will be key in providing a fully supportive and forward-thinking service to service personnel who live in. Your role is directly in support of the Station priorities, as ensuring the welfare of our personnel is paramount.

You will be seen as the front of house service to personnel assigned to and transiting through RAF Lossiemouth, and will be encouraged to take a proactive role in the future development of the team. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The successful candidate will play a vital role within the Accommodation Team, conducting both initiative-taking and reactive response to primarily Infra related issues affecting SLA. They will provide the interface between SLA personnel and the Industry Partner (IP) with maintenance tasks. This role is crucial to ensuring that accommodation is prepared and ready for occupation to the required standard prior to allocation.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Effective management and administration of the permanent/transit accommodation bedding. In liaison with Domestic Supply Section, maintaining a holding of laundered bedding within the Accommodation Hub for issue forward to the Junior Ranks SLA and a small holding in the Main Guardroom. Ensure stock levels are maintained in both areas.
Place bedding packs within permanent and transit rooms prior to occupation, with notification to personnel to return bagged soiled bedding to the Accommodation Hub when vacating.
When replacement carpets are to be fitted in JRSLA rooms, confirming standalone furniture is cleared from room prior to DSS and contractor access.
Providing escort to the Industry Partner (IP) and sub-contractors in support of both planned / ad-hoc Infra requirements in the JRSLA in the absence of a suitably appointed Barrack Block (BB) representative. Provide reactive escorting requirements for emergency Infra.
Update and maintain the JRSLA BB foyer Notice Boards to ensure that mandated notices are displayed, including Health and Safety, Fire etc.,
Report nonservice issue cooking equipment identified within the SLA Utility rooms to the Accommodation Manager.
Conduct Legionella flushing in vacant rooms and communal areas where complete corridor is unoccupied. Create and submit Legionella returns to Infra within specified timescales.
Highlight unserviceable items or barrack damage within SLA to the Management I/Cs where considered not Fit for Purpose.
Identify and report Infra requirements, ensuring they are recorded in the JRSLA BB foyer and Accommodation Cell Share Point Infra register.
Any other duties allocated by the Accommodation Cell Manager which are commensurate of the grade.
Person specification
The successful candidate will work as part of a team, although be proactive when working independently addressing and highlighting potential Infra concerns promptly.
The ability to work well with others is fundamental to this role, as much of their day to day activities will involve interaction with military, civilian and contractors across the Station.
It is important that the successful candidate is driven to identify and resolve potential problems/issues within the SLA environment, keeping management appraised throughout.
The post is advertised at 37 hours per week, with the ability to work flexible hours.
It is desirable that the applicant undertake Manual Handling training.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments.
