About the job
Job summary
The Food Standards Agency is a small government department with a big mission: to keep food safe, ensure that it is what it says it is and that’s it’s increasingly healthy and more sustainable. The day-to-day delivery of this work relies on huge amounts of varied data. From the research and evidence that we employ to support and guide our policy work, to figures and private details regarding the food business operators at the heart of our regulatory work, the FSA is built on the data we use to keep our operations running and keep consumers safe.
We are looking for an Information Governance Lead who can ensure that data is used effectively and responsibly within the FSA, kept safely and, when requested, shared appropriately. Leading a team of four , you will work to embed good practice for information governance across the entire organisation. Seeking to support the FSA’s use of information and data , your team will represent an authoritative voice that champions data protection whilst enabling us to make the most of the information at the FSA’s fingertips.
Job description
Interweaved with these responsibilities are those relating to the FOI requests received by the Agency. The FSA puts openness and transparency at the centre of what we do, better allowing us to maintain our reputation as a regulatory body. We must seek to respond efficiently to all FOI requests, whilst also ensuring that any data we share is handled responsibly. You will work with the relevant parties across the Agency to meet these expectations, providing support and guidance to those responding to requests.
Working with colleagues across the FSA, you will be a confident communicator who can work quickly and resiliently in the face of multiple priorities. You’ll need to have meticulous attention to detail, and be delivery focused. If you are excited to play an important role in data governance within a government agency don’t hesitate to apply for this exciting opportunity.
