Job summary
The Head of People will provide high quality leadership and oversight on the development and delivery of SFO’s People Strategy. Together with the Chief People Officer and Head of Culture this role manages the provision of effective and professional Human Resources services and advice. This includes day to day implementation of relevant people management policies and strategic initiatives to ensure we attract, retain and promote highly skilled and motivated people in every area of our work. Key elements to the role will be the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse and committed group of managers and their teams; be ‘hands on’ when required, and encourage an organsational culture that supports effective behaviours and ways of working that demonstrate clear commitment to the SFO’s values, mission and vision.
This role will deputise on all people management matters in the absence of the Chief People Officer.
Job description
As a Head of People you will be responsible for:
- Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a team to deliver highly efficient people services functions including talent attraction, recruitment, onboarding, data insights, data management of personal information, employee relations, case management. Manage resource capacity and embed a culture of continuous improvement. Develop and govern HR policies, procedures and guidelines as required and promote fairness and consistency in their application.
- Strategy and Planning: Contribute to the development and link with the People Business Partners to lead the overall delivery of individual People Plans across all business areas to inform the priorities and work of the team. Use data and metrics to inform P&C strategies and decisions.
- Relationship and Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with senior internal stakeholders, including the Executive and Senior Leadership teams, Trade Unions, People Business Partners, Finance and external agencies to support the delivery of excellent services.
- Commercial and Financial Management: Manage the operational budget and review performance of the team against a set of performance indicators that are yet to be agreed and measured against.
- Service Improvement: Lead the development and delivery of a continuous improvement plan for the people team working practices, processes and service levels.
