Job description

The Fixed Connectivity Above Secret (FC-AS) team delivers Voice, Video, Teleconferencing, Data and Network services at AS in support of the most sensitive UK Capabilities.​

The AS team are supporting delivery of a secure, singular, modern Digital Backbone that is connecting sensors, effectors and deciders across military and business domains and, with partners, driving integration and interoperability across domains and platforms. The AS team are at at the centre of creating more effective and secure systems, regardless of location, using modern technology, at better value for Defence.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Be at the heart of the team that delivers Next Generation Network, Voice & Video services for Defence at Above Secret.
  • Work closely with Defence suppliers to develop and implement strategic change across Above Secret services.
  • Develop and execute a plan that transitions the current services to the future operating model as set out in the Digital Strategy for Defence.
  • Develop digital skills across Network, Voice & Video Services.

As Delivery Manager you will be accountable for the performance of the team and expected to manage a range of products and services throughout the entire product life cycle.  You will manage multiple projects and/ or a single product or service that is especially complex, high risk and sensitive.

You will be working to build and maintain ways of working, delivery approaches and teams, potentially working across multiple discovery teams with an opportunity to engage with users and stakeholders across Defence.  You will be responsible for scaling the service, supporting resourcing and team sizing.  This role will play a key role in the team’s capability to scale delivery of critical Above Secret Defence outputs.

The successful applicant’s responsibilities include:

  • Managing the AS Network Service within the Fixed Connectivity team.
  • Playing a prominent role in the management of Above Secret services within the context of the Digital Strategy.
  • Leading the development and execution of a Technology Roadmap that moves Defence AS networks from old to new technologies.
  • Management of sensitive AS services and projects that are at the heart of Defence.
  • Management of people, funding and Network Services.

Due to security and information access restriction, the role is only open to a sole BRITISH nationals.

Person specification

While all the skills and experience in the role can be gained through on-the-job learning and development, we would welcome candidates with knowledge, transferable skills and experience including:

  • Having a passion for Digital Skills and wanting to be part of a team that provides unique capabilities.
  • Being technically minded with a desire to manage, change, and adapt Defence Networks to deliver Defence outcomes.
  • Experienced with, or knowledge/association of, the management of Managed Service Contracts.
  • Experienced with, or knowledge/association of, the management of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience of, or association with, the implementation and management of Enterprise Network capabilities.
  • Experience of creating, influencing and managing stakeholder relationships.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.  This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity.  Requirements to attend other locations for official business or work in another MOD office will also count towards this level of attendance.
