We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, organised, and enthusiastic Band 6 Mental Health Nurse to join our vibrant and fast paced organisation in RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus.

This is a full-time position, offering 37.5 hours per week, will include relocation's assistance for the successful candidate and their immediate family.
This position has a minimum tour length of 3 years.

Person specification
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing initial assessment and formulation of the mental health needs for referred patients, planning, implementing and evaluating care with a high level of autonomy.
- Performing clinical risk assessments of all patients seen, for para-suicide, self-harm and risk to others; recognising nuances in presentation of ideation and intent; acting in the best interests of the patient and others to evaluate safety in the community and therapeutic risk taking.
- Routinely giving advice and recommendations to medical officers about all matters of mental health, care and treatment including hospital admission advice and making recommendations on General Practitioner (GP) prescribing of medication for mental health disorders.
- Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous records and clinical notes of all patient contact
- Communicating, where appropriate, on occupational information via the Unit Health Committee whilst respecting the principles of patient confidentiality.

Desirable criteria:
- Post graduate qualifications in an evidence based psychological therapy
- Have post qualification experience.
Essential criteria:
- Experience working within adult mental health services
- Experience of working in a Community Mental Health setting.
- Experience in delivering National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended psychological interventions

This is an established MoD post within Cyprus and any Cypriot National will not be eligible to apply as a UK based Civilian (This includes where dual nationality is held).
This posting will be for 3 years with the potential option to extend, subject to approval and policy.

Whilst you will be a permanent member of the MOD, you will be subject to the normal overseas posting lengths and you will have an obligation to return to an MOD position in the UK after your overseas posting. This is not a Specially Recruited to RAF Akrotiri, Cyrpus position. At the end of a tour no guarantees can be given that you will return to your previous or preferred location in the UK. This may mean the mobility obligation for mobile grades may be enacted where there is no suitable post at an individual’s preferred location.
There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
