Job description
As a sole Probation Officer, with support from the Social Services Team, you will work with offenders who have been either sentenced by the courts to a Probation Order, Community Service or Suspended Sentence Order. You will prepare pre-sentence reports for judges and magistrates in the court and manage community sentences, working with offenders in the community and custody to reduce reoffending. You will also manage the Youth Diversion Scheme, and on occasion work with young people who have been convicted of an offence.
You will need to have experience of working with people who have been convicted of a range of offences, including serious sexual and violent offences, and experience of delivering interventions to effect change – either on a one to one basis or as part of a programme - to address a range of offending. You will work closely with prison officers and the Head of Prison Service to contribute to sentence planning, provide progress updates, and preparing for release.
