Job summary

As an expert in policy and process design for health and safety, this is an exciting opportunity for you to use your safety risk management and compliance monitoring skills to protect the UK’s interests, all over the world. In this role, you’ll use your negotiation, incident investigation and strategic planning skills to deliver safe and effective solutions to complex projects which have a direct impact on the overall performance of everything we do.

Job description

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more.

Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.

For our organisation, the safety and security of our teams and our information is more than a want, it’s a must. That’s what makes our Corporate Governance team so vital. They’re the people either supporting health and safety at home and overseas or protecting vital data. By following best practices, balancing interests, managing risks, and upholding policies they protect our organisation. Now, you've got the opportunity to join them.

Setting the standard for success.
Assuring trust and safety at every level.
Knowing your decisions are valued.
It all matters.

Provide the strategy and direction that protects us all

Working with us is about keeping people and assets safe, all around the world. And it’s why your role, providing the strategic and policy direction for health and safety across the full range of FCDO Services, is so vital. Your work will directly impact our performance, whether you’re monitoring compliance through structured audits, providing improvement support, or co-ordinating health and safety content for projects and bids.

With your constructive advice, we’ll deliver safe and effective solutions to the highest standards, and everyone from senior management to delivery teams and contractors will understand, and be able to comply, with safety management systems.

Build relationships and foster a culture of safety

You’ll work with FCDO Services facilities across Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes and King Charles, Street, London, as well as FCDO Services corporate functions. From engineering operations to estates management and logistics, as well as Trade Union Safety Representatives such as first-aiders and fire wardens, you’ll build effective relationships so that our services operate within the highest safety standards.

Share your Health and Safety experience

With experience across everything from governance, negotiation, auditing, safety risk management, strategic planning, and health and safety process design, it’s essential you hold a NEBOSH general certificate (or EQF Level 3 equivalent) and are CDM 2015 compliant. A diploma in OSH or membership of IOSH is desirable.

Working with us you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of; and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Security check (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website: https://www.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/

There is a pay award pending which is currently being negotiated with the Trades Unions. It’s proposed as part of the offer that our pay ranges will be adjusted with salary minima’s being uplifted by between 3% and 8% depending on grade. Details will be confirmed once the pay award is agreed.

Hanslope Park based posts attract a Location Allowance of £1,750 per annum.

FCDO Services are regulated by the Civil Service Commission.
