Job summary

The Senior Economic Research Specialist role is part of an ambitious team of 12 economists, researchers, market analysts, and geospatial experts, delivering high quality research and analysis to help the agency deliver social and economic impact.

Job description

Playing a crucial part in supporting this wider analytical function, the Senior Economic Research Specialist will be focused on embedding economic analysis within Homes England decision making and strategy development, including through:

 

Leading the team’s economic and housing market forecasting capabilities, and efforts to embed these within the Agency, thus providing the Agency with the ability to conduct scenario planning across its portfolio.

 

Leading delivery of the Agency’s regular programme of market intelligence, analysing the latest data on the housing market and economy, and translating this into actionable insight for colleagues.

 

Leading delivery of major bespoke research and analysis studies on specific housing market and economic topics, to inform delivery and strategy development. This will include working directly to a range of clients – from delivery teams to government officials.

 

Leading delivery of the Agency’s Evaluation Programme, including the full range of research and analysis needed to complete this work (document/literature reviews, data analysis, consultations/surveys, report writing and dissemination of findings), using a wide range of methods, and ensuring that the evaluations are completed as robustly as possible to provide high quality evidence to HM Government.

 

Line managing junior members of the Research and Analysis team and support the wider team to complete their outputs to the highest standard, working collaboratively and supportively across the REA function, as a critical friend to strategic research and analysis.

 

Leading the procurement and contract management of major research and analysis studies that require independent and/or expert inputs.

Person specification

You'll be interested in regeneration and housing and ambitious in delivering high quality research and analysis that can help the agency to deliver real impact for the housing market and communities we serve.

 

You'll be comfortable working on a range of projects as well as helping the team to implement our varied and exciting research programme - all to ensure the agency's decision making is based on robust evidence and delivers maximum value for money for society.

 

Existing knowledge of the housing sector is desirable, but we are looking for transferable communication, research and analytical skills and a real desire to help find new innovative ways to improve our service to Homes England colleagues and wider stakeholders. 

 

As the role will be will be line managing junior members of the Research and Analysis team you'll be able to demonstrate a good track record in managing / supporting the development of junior colleagues.
