- A national archive not just of government but of the state – preserving and making accessible the record of the executive, legislature and judiciary

- A demonstrably sustainable national archive, leading the archives sector both through our expertise and by example

Person specification
As a Corporate Analyst, you will work on one of two roles:
- The Corporate Information Analyst will play a vital role in helping The National Archives to achieve its ambitions. You will bring your intelligence, curiosity and formidable analytic skills to bear on some of our biggest strategic challenges. Using your in-depth understanding of The National Archives’ management information assets, you will also play a consultative role, aiding colleagues at all levels to creatively interrogate information to better understand and improve the services the organisation provides.
- The Corporate Performance Analyst will lead on the development of the Corporate Performance Framework for The National Archives and help embed an organisation-wide performance management culture. You will define and monitor key metrics, produce reports and offer insights that influence senior decision-making. You will support evidence-based decision-making across the organisation and play an expert role supporting colleagues at all levels to monitor and improve performance.
Both roles require a strong analytical skillset, excellent communication skills, and a strong people and partnership focus. You will be comfortable working with large and complex data sets, using a broad range of analytic approaches, and presenting complex information to non-technical audiences. You will also be keen to engage with colleagues across the organisation, and to contribute to the development of our data culture and maturity.
While experience is valuable in these roles, your skillset and the quality and flexibility of your thinking will matter more.

This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department. A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.

You will be asked to provide details of your work experience and write a personal statement. In your personal statement please explain, using examples, how you meet the essential criteria given below. You may draw on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience gained from paid work, domestic responsibilities, education, leisure interests and voluntary activities. Please note selection for interview will largely be based on the information you provide in this section.
Essential criteria:
Highly-developed skills in manipulating and modelling large and complex data sets
Proficient user of Excel, Power BI, and ideally other data analysis, modelling & comparison tools to enable tailored response to specific briefs
Strong expertise and ability across a broad range of analytic and research approaches, both quantitative and qualitative
A demonstrable ability to convey and present approaches, findings and recommendations in a way that can engage non-technical and senior audiences, using appropriate reporting and visualisation tools and techniques
Excellent judgement with a proven consultative ability in a data context
The capability to develop expert knowledge of the data generated and held by The National Archives and the systems within which it is maintained
Meticulous organisation skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to set up and manage robust monitoring, tracking, version/source-data control, and quality assurance processes
Proven effectiveness working autonomously and on own initiative, with the ability to identify opportunities, advocate for more strategic approaches and proactively shape a portfolio of work that adds value to the organisation
