Person specification
- Providing leadership for a team of 48 FTE and the wider Ministry of Justice Finance Function driving improved capability in a range of skills including commercial and change finance expertise.
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders both in the business and the wider finance community.
- Providing finance business partnering support to the Youth Custody Service and Reducing Reoffending & Partnerships Teams.
- Providing support and challenge to business and commercial colleagues to ensure our contracts and change programmes are good VfM and support HMPPS delivery.
- Providing advice direct to the HMPPS Accounting Officer to support decision making and good governance.
- Sitting on senior contract/commercial boards and bringing together finance support for the overall HMPPS Change Portfolio.
- Providing finance business partner support to the Youth Custody Service.
- Providing input into business planning and being a driving force to ensure we understand out contracts pipeline and take a strategic approach to decision-making in respect of our contract and change landscape.
- Be a driving force to ensure we are effective at benefit realisation and monitoring
- Ensuring the business is effectively monitoring risks and opportunities, looking both at the in-year position and to the medium and longer term, supporting them to take action where needed.
- Working collaboratively with other HMPPS FBP teams and the Management Accounting Centre of Excellence and Financial Accounting Team to ensure timely and accurate reporting and business intelligence.
- Taking responsibility for implementing the Government’s standards for Excellence in Finance Business Partnering in your area, working across the function to raise the quality of services in all parts of finance, developing capability; and
Playing an active role in developing the MoJ Finance Function, creating a strong cultural identity, driving a diverse and inclusive culture, empowering staff and promoting accountability
