Headquarters London District is the main headquarters for British Army units within the M25 corridor of London and Windsor. It is responsible for all Regular units, Army Reserve units and Cadet Attachments. Headquarters London District is also responsible for leading and delivering London's ceremonial events. These include State Visits, Trooping the Colour and the Military Musical Spectacular at Horse Guards.

We are looking for a hands-on person who has strong communication, administration and good IT skills, flexibility, a dedication to customer service and who values providing a service both individually and as part of a team.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Assist in all aspects of Community Engagement for the Army in London and Windsor and the delivery and of the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) with Local Authorities and the Military Community and build a regular communication stream to councils through social media and quarterly newsletters. Work closely with the Youth Engagement Team to provide Social Media support to their events promoting the opportunities and activities the team deliver to young people. Assist with the coordination and delivery of virtual and physical events which include careers events, recruitment fairs and careers presentations.

Regularly engage with Stakeholders both internally and externally to:

  • Maintain ongoing relationships
  • Attend stakeholder meetings, representing London District
  • Understand measures councils are taking to uphold their Armed Forces Covenant Commitments
  • Manage and update the central information database

Plan and assist in the delivery of:

  • Annual London District AFC Conference
  • Annual training day for London military units
  • Monthly Fusion Meeting
  • Bi-annual London Councils Armed Forces Champion Network
  • Manage and update London Councils website, ensuring it remains up to date and relevant
  • Monthly virtual outreach meeting
  • Creation of Social Media Content
  • Maintain relevant data and statistics for each London Borough

Person specification

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively around the Department.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Competent at using Microsoft 365 and work applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Power point.
  • Proficient Understanding of Social Media and the platforms available
  • Flexible and adaptable

The post does not offer relocation expenses.

'London locations may attract locational allowances. The ‘Inner London Weighting RRA Allowance’ is £3,250 per annum and the ‘Outer London Weighting RRA Allowance’ is £1,750 per annum.
