This role is ad hoc and would be in addition to a current, clinical role. If you’re currently a practising dentist and treating patients on a regular basis, then this is a great opportunity to drive improvement within the oral health sector and work as part of the National Oral Health Team in order to complete our inspection programme. This is a role with flexibility, plus the opportunity to impact positively on people’s lives. Person specification

Accountabilities:

  • Provide timely, robust and objective specialist advice to CQC staff, either through verbal or written communication.
  • Accompany CQC representatives on inspection and investigation activity to identified provider organisations and provide relevant advice and input to your specialist area in order to support appropriate judgements to be made.
  • Observe the highest standards of impartiality, integrity and objectivity in relation to advice and activities that are undertaken on CQC’s behalf.
  • Adopt an approach of openness and transparency in all business activities and the provision of advice undertaken on CQC’s behalf.
  • Ensure all work carried out is within the scope of that required and relevant CQC policies/guidance are adhered to.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information that is accessed in the course of work undertaken for CQC
    Working within CQC registered locations and practises.
  • Engaging in induction and training, as required.

Essential skills and experience:

  • You will be a GDC registered dentist, with a minimum of five years’ experience of clinical practice and you will currently be a practicing dentist, treating patients on a regular basis.
  • Highly-developed influencing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in verbal, written and digital communication.
  • A track record of working successfully with fellow clinicians and stakeholders, within the oral health sector.
    Experience of collaborating with dental professionals, in order to drive service improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of dental regulations, clinical procedures, and patient safety standards.
    Ability to provide clear, practical advice on clinical and operational improvements.

As an Oral Health Specialist Advisor, you will be part of a vibrant national team and will enjoy a varied, challenging remit as you inspect and regulate primary care dental practices across the region to make sure they are safe, effective, responsive, caring and well led. The inspections typically require on-site activity and working with partners and stakeholders to reach a shared judgement on the quality of services being provided.
