Are you committed to helping us assess how Local Authorities deliver their duties under the Care Act 2014?
With the introduction of the Health and Care Bill, CQC will have new powers regarding assessment of how Local Authorities (LAs) deliver their duties under Part 1 of the Care Act and powers to have oversight of Integrated Care Systems (ICSs). These new powers will support us to deliver on our new strategy to look at how care is provided by a local system, delivers on what is important for people using the services and reduces inequalities in their care.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues in the Local Authority assessment team, you will support on-site and offsite work. You will engage with professionals within the Local Authority using the single assessment framework and the quality statements. This will be an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the health and care landscape.

This role is ad hoc and would be in addition to a current role, within professional practice for local authorities. This a great opportunity to drive improvement within Local Authorities, by support our local authority inspection team, to deliver our inspection programme. This is a role with flexibility, plus the opportunity to impact positively on people’s lives. Person specification
Accountabilities:
- Proactively participate with CQC representatives on assessment and investigation activity to identified Local Authorities and provide relevant advice and input to your specialist area, in order to support appropriate judgements to be made.
- Effectively assessing individual and team capability through leading interviews.
- Observe the highest standards of impartiality, integrity and objectivity in relation to advice and activities that are undertaken on CQC’s behalf.
- Ensure all work carried out is within the scope of that required and relevant CQC policies/guidance are adhered to.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information that is accessed in the course of work undertaken for CQC
- Participate in a 1- 2 day remote induction, hosted virtually
- Provide expert advice and guidance to the assessment team about best practices in local authorities.
- Engage with stakeholders during assessments, to promote transparency and accountability.
- Participate in the quality assurance processes and give clear, practical, written feedback.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of how Local Authorities work in the health and/or social care sector and the Care Act 2014.
- Have up to date skills, knowledge and experience of Implementing the Care Act 2014 part 1.
- Proven experience in your specialist area.
- Be currently employed in a managerial or leadership capacity within a Local Authority, or other aligned relevant organisation.
- Highly developed influencing, analytical and communication skills.
- A track record of working successfully with senior teams in large organisations.
