Job description
As the Senior Threat Intelligence Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out an organisation’s cyber threat intelligence policies and processes to meet the needs of the organisation in line with appropriate standards.
- Helping to conduct incident response activities. Communicating the results of intelligence analysis, supporting an organisation to improve and maintain a robust response to new threats and attack vectors. Supporting post-incident reviews, including root cause analysis, to feed-back information and so improve monitoring.
- Identifying and classifying security vulnerabilities across the Home Office. Analysing complex intelligence to understand the associated cyber security risk, which will assist in the prioritisation of vulnerabilities through an intelligence-based approach.
- Defining policy and tools needed to assess the Home Office’s threat landscape, and providing advice on risk mitigating actions where required, working closely with various internal and external suppliers.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of the Threat Intelligence platform to ensure intelligence automation aids incident investigations.
Note: An employee may be required to carry out other duties within the scope of the grade and within the limits of their skill, competence, and training.
The successful candidate will be located in the Soapworks, Manchester regional office. Under Home Office hybrid working practices there is an expectation that you will attend the office for a minimum of 60% of your working hours.
Due to the nature of the role, this post is available on a full-time basis only.
Person specification
You’ll have a demonstrable passion for Threat Intelligence with the following skills or demonstrable experience in:
- Working in a ‘Security Operations Centre’ environment
- Building strong partnerships with peers across the technology organisation and navigating the complex landscape of technologies, 3rd party suppliers, internal and cross-government teams.
- Communicating in a verbal and written manner, and a good understanding of the use of different channels and formats for different audiences.

If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview where you will be asked questions based on:

- You will also be asked to deliver a presentation on a given topic. Details of the presentation will be provided to candidates who are invited to attend an interview.
Interviews will take place remotely. Candidates will be required to have access to:

A reserve list may be held for a period of up to 12 months from which further appointments may be made. There is no guarantee that being held on a reserve list will lead to a job offer. Further information can be found on our website.
Reserve lists will be held for each location and profession. Candidates will be appointed in merit order by location and profession.
Candidates judged to be a near miss at interview may be offered a post at the grade below the one advertised without the need to go through a further selection process, providing the role has the same Success Profiles elements and essential skills.
