Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assurance Manager to provide independent assessment and confirmation that a project/programme is on track, that it is being appropriately managed and that its activities and business rationale remain aligned to the organisation’s objectives.  This includes ensuring reviews are scheduled and delivered to enable scrutiny of the project to meet its objectives and benefits stated within the business case.

Finance, Planning and Performance (FPP) oversees financial reporting, develops budgets and projections, formulates business plans, tracks implementation progress, measures success metrics and manages corporate risk.

Team Summary

The Investment Assurance Team (IAT) maintains a single view of strategic change across CCS to ensure that all programmes are working towards delivery of the CCS corporate objectives.  It is there to ensure that the delivery and impact of change across the organisation as a whole is managed effectively.  Change can impact people, processes and/or systems, it is therefore critical that the IAT ensures that change is managed in a consistent way across the organisation.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading a number of assurance activities across either one or several projectsPlanning and ownership of a 12 month assurance pipeline containing both current and post project reviews

  • Responsible for ensuring projects or programmes have appropriate levels of assurance for the complexity of the project. 

  • Preparing, drafting and delivering health-check reports to Senior Responsible Officers (SRO) and internal governance groups.

  • Responsible for arranging and holding monthly Health Check  RAID reviews on our more complex projects and programmes

  • Ensuring that agreed actions are implemented, and that any lessons learned are applied to future change initiatives. 

  • Building relationships with wider 3rd party audit 

  • (e.g Government Internal Audit Agency) to aid planning and oversight of  audit actions and tracking their completion.

Person specification

Essential Criteria (To be assessed at application stage):

  • Previous practical experience of Project Delivery

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of leading project/programme assurance or Internal Audit Gated Reviews 

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise the Healthcheck pipeline and attached activities in an ever changing environment.

  • Significant experience of building strong relationships across a range of stakeholders with ability to give unpopular results .

  • Interpersonal skills to work with a wide range  of audiences and stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand and explain issues in a concise and straightforward way
