Job description

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.

Our Property and Construction teams design and build brand new embassies in bustling cities and remote locations. They collaborate with architects, engineers and surveyors to design and reconfigure high commission’s office spaces. They work to develop and install new CCTV systems at secure sites. This work is as varied and as vital as it gets. Now you’ve got the opportunity to join them.

A highly motivated and collaborative team worker, you enjoy the challenge of working on complex technical security systems. And now you’re ready to apply your skills and expertise to projects both here in the UK and overseas. We’re on a vital global mission, and you can be part of it.

Designing and building embassies
Providing a world-class service
Protecting the UK’s security interests
It all matters

Join a multi-disciplinary team of technical security experts

When you join our team of technical security experts, your focus will be on installing single and complex multi-systems to a set design, supervising the apprentices and labourers assigned to the team, and assisting with the completion of risk assessments and compliance with relevant Heath and Safety procedures. Some of your work will involve projects in locations overseas, but when you’re in the UK you’ll provide support to other areas of our operation – for example by working alongside colleagues in other teams on research and development. Committed to maintaining your own professional understanding and skills relating to the latest technologies, you’ll also ensure our customers are satisfied with your work by liaising with them on a day-to-day basis.

Use all your knowledge and expertise as you support our global mission

With a Level 3 qualification or its equivalent in electronics, telecommunications or IT, you’ll have well developed experience of installing technical protective security systems, and practical application of risk assessment. We’ll expect you to have good knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following: CCTV/ACS/IAPA/IDA, radio, IT, structured cabling or PCPO, and of cable installation to a quality standard (Cat5 Cat6, Fibre, Cold Cure, Hot Melt and Fusion Splicing). A collaborative and motivated team worker, you’ll be ready to deliver at pace both in the UK and in some challenging overseas locations. Experience of working in a similar role would be desirable, as would an understanding of construction design management requirements and operating in secure environments. Membership of a relevant professional body and possession of an ECS card would also be a bonus.

Discover the support you need to grow your career further

But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
