Job summary
We are recruiting for two Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team.
Reporting into the Senior Finance Business Partner, the Finance Business Partner (FBP) has portfolio responsibility for a number of Directors and Deputy Directors who they will support on all finance related matters.
Acting as the ‘gateway’ between the Finance Division and the business the FBP requires a strategic and detailed understanding of the Directorates they support. The FBP maintains trusted relationships with the senior leaders to ensure Finance delivers a timely, high-quality and value-added service to the business, helping the Directorates to deliver their corporate objectives in the most efficient way.
The FBP has overall responsibility for delivering their key accountabilities on time and to a standard that meets the customers’ needs and will lead a Management Accounts team in delivering regular financial reporting. The FBP also works in collaboration with other FBPs and the Financial Accounting, Operations and Systems team to develop and maintain a good understanding of the crosscutting activities of the whole of Ofsted.

Technical skills
We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar financial role with a focus on business partnering and management accounting.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify underlying causes and financial drivers that create deviations from plans and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insight to support decision making for non-technical audiences.
- Build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders including directors and senior leaders – demonstrating the communication skills, impact and gravitas to effectively collaborate, challenge assumptions and influence decisions.
- Experience of successful application of leadership and management skills, including leading and managing change and advising senior leaders on complex financial issues.

Application and Shortlisting:
The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential criteria as set out in the person specification.
You will also be asked to provide information within the “Employer/Activity History” section of the application form. This information is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV setting out your career history (this may be used in the sifting process).
Assessment and Interview
Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlisting stage will be invited to an assessment and interview where they will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and the experience/technical skills set out in section 3 of the job specification.
Assessment and interviews will be held during the week commencing Monday 25 November 2024 and/or week commencing Monday 2 December 2024 at Piccadilly Gate, Manchester.
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
