An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Kitchen Steward to be a key part of our professional, award-winning team in the Catering Services of the House of Commons.

Catering Services aim to deliver the best quality service with an enthusiastic and professional team for the benefit of all our customers.  We are responsible for the efficient operation of the House of Commons catering facilities within the agreed financial framework.

Job description

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Chief Stewards / Stewarding Supervisor in all stewarding related matters in the Back of House areas concerning food and beverage equipment. As well as this, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Departmental Food, Health and Safety Policies are always met.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Qualifications: Foundation Food Safety (or equivalent), Manual Handling & Safety in the Workplace, Foundation Health & Safety
  • Relevant Kitchen experience working a similar position with a good understanding of Food hygiene and Health and Safety practices
  • Have excellent customer service skills with the ability to respond quickly to customer needs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to undertake regular manual handling tasks as part of the daily work routine.

Person specification

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
