DBS has recently undertaken a review of its operational locations in the North West, and have consolidated all activities in Norcross, Blackpool. A further move, to the new Government Hub at Talbot Gateway in Blackpool, is scheduled to take place in 2026.

Job description
Deal with all aspects of Windows work arising within DBS systems with a focus on finance (CP&F) system, to provide infrastructure support and guidance in accordance with agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
Work within WANS team to maintain CP&F Windows platform.
Ensure services are accepted into the Windows Infrastructure.
Support and maintain Windows Services, ensuring that service levels meet or exceed SLAs and operational level agreements (OLAs)
Ensure "Live" Windows environments are fully operational on a day to day basis and that they are meeting the agreed expectations of the end users.
Implement the introduction into service of all third party applications which are delivered Windows service eg CITRIX HP authentication services.
Ensure all Windows Infrastructure operations are stable and act as a point of escalation when necessary.
Person specification
Review past service performance and identify potential areas of growing concern, where a forthcoming issue can be pre-empted, ensure remedial action is taken prior to an incident occurring.
Monitor measure and review performance of services and components in the Windows infrastructure and ensure capacity meets the needs of DBS.
Support continuous improvement activities and standard working practices across the Windows technical support function.
Some knowledge of Windows Server 2022, ability to configure / maintain all DBS server 2022 systems
Some knowledge of Windows 10 ability to configure / maintain all DBS Windows 10 systems
Microsoft core services such as Active Directory, WSUS, Group Policy, DFS, DNS
Powershell scripting and automation, create and manage scripts to perform system tasks.
Oracle Internet Directory and link to Oracle E-business suite for on-boarding new users.

Allowances
The post does not offer relocation expenses.
Please be advised that the Department is conducting a review of all pay related allowances which could impact on those allowances that the post currently being advertised attracts.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

We want to offer opportunities to all who are successful at interview for our roles, but this isn’t always possible, so we do hold candidates on an active reserve list for 3 months. There may be an opportunity to offer additional or similar roles on a 12-month temporary basis, utilising the Reserve List. At the end of such temporary transfer, the individual would return to their home unit.
