Job description

Purpose

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. Ofgem’s purpose is to protect energy consumers, especially vulnerable people, by ensuring they are treated fairly and benefit from a cleaner, greener environment.

Working within the PMO team and alongside the Delivery and Product Management teams and Senior Managers in the Delivery Hub – Digital area, you will be responsible for supporting the monitoring and reporting on Delivery and Schemes. Agile project and product portfolio.  

You will work within a small team of staff who are responsible for:  

  • Operating and continuously improving an effective PMO function 
  • Ensuring proper governance is implemented & adhered to 

The role requires knowledge of best practices in the operation of a Programme Management Office. 

This role will require a collaborative approach in working with colleagues both within and outside the Delivery Hub. The right candidate will have project and programme management experience, and a pragmatic approach that balances the need for governance and rigour, while not over-burdening the stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support an effective PMO function. 
  • Support with project and programme governance arrangements. 
  • Support the review of and revise the existing Project Management Framework and templates. 
  • Support projects as required 
  • Assess PMO tools and techniques and bring about positive change to how the PMO function operates. 
  • Keep the resource schedule updated for all projects 

Person specification

Role Criteria

Essential:

  • Knowledge of PMO and Project Management methodologies, processes and techniques (LEAD)
  • Experience of supporting a PMO in an agile environment
  • Programme and project risk management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Exceptional planning and organising skills
  • Experience of communicating and influencing with senior stakeholders.
