Job summary
We are currently looking for two Business Analysts to join our Digital and Service Design Team within the Digital & Technology group.
These are full-time opportunities, on a permanent basis. The roles will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU/South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Please be aware that these roles can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.
We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The Digital and Technology Group (DTG) lies at the heart of the Agency and is responsible for delivering an optimised IT infrastructure and maximising the secure use of data to enable our scientists, inspectors, and the rest of the organisation to deliver world class services which can improve outcomes for patients and the general public. The Group was essential in the race to approve COVID-19 vaccines in 2020 and in supporting the UK to set up its own medicines and devices approvals systems following our exit from the EU. The work we do matters!
The Digital & Service Design group provides a number of services through its practice-based model including user-research, service design, business analysis, change management and product management. D&SDG owns the customer experience for the division and is building its in-house capabilities around Digital Product Management, Business Analysis and User Centred Design.
Job description
What’s the role?
The post holders will be engaged in delivering business analysis services and will therefore be pivotal in understanding and analysing user and business needs. The post holders will work directly with key stakeholders at the MHRA to understand and document business opportunities that align with the Agency’s overall strategy, as well as the specific requirements of the MHRA’s business divisions.
Key responsibilities:
- Business Analysis - produce business analysis products and artifacts in a timely manner at appropriate stages, working with all levels of the business to define and document these. These could include user stories, journey maps, requirements catalogues, process maps and inputs into business cases.
- Business Process Model and Product identification - Working alongside other digital colleagues, including service design, to identify and compare the best processes and delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes.
- Stakeholder engagement and communication - Coordinate the business analysis and engagement of stakeholders by influencing and managing relationships effectively and ensuring business analysis outputs are captured and agreed by all stakeholders; and ensuring stakeholders are appropriately engaged taking account of their levels of influence and interest.
- Coordinate the smooth transition of ongoing business analysis activities from the design phase to implementation and delivery of the project while working effectively with testing partners, training partners, change managers and the business in defining acceptance criteria or tests for the new initiatives and for setting business readiness principles.

Our successful candidate will have experience of:
- Developing and implementing business analysis approach and plans
- Identifying and exploring opportunities for service and business improvement, determining costs and benefits of new approaches to ensure maximum value, and managing change or assisting implementation where needed
- Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Adapting to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities whilst maintaining quality of work
