Job description
Proud to Serve. Proud to keep justice going.
Head of Asset Management
HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. We provide support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.
Our Justice system defends our fundamental rights and freedoms. It is a cornerstone of our modern society. It protects some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, from families in crisis to claimants and commercial businesses. We have a responsibility to deliver a Justice system that is accessible to everyone and operates efficiently.
The Property Directorate is responsible for ensuring the provision of all the property services necessary to enable the delivery of justice. Property is core to HMCTS, providing the facilities through which we can fulfil our obligations – and aspirations. Working closely with Operations and the Judiciary, we are making sure that our estate is not only fit for purpose but will ensure delivery of our vision for the future.
The HMCTS estate is divided between two Heads of Asset Management, who report to the Deputy Director of Asset Management. As one of the Heads of Asset Management, you will play a vital role in delivering against this vision. In this unique and rewarding position, you will co-lead a team which acts as the internal centre of real estate knowledge.
You will collaboratively provide advice using your own expertise but also utilising external property and legal consultants, whilst being responsible for effectively delivering best value to HMCTS and protect the efficient occupation across the buildings within our estate under your management.
In this challenging and dynamic post, you will work collaboratively to coordinate the delivery of HMCTS’ real estate requirements, informing the operational and strategy teams on the parameters of lease and occupational constraints, whilst managing the continuity of occupation in existing buildings.
This will require a holistic oversight of the property portfolio to support capital investment and other areas of the property function.
If you are RICS qualified (in an appropriate sector pathway), have significant experience of active Asset Management in a large organisation, and value the opportunity to make a real difference, then this role may be the job for you.
Join us and help to create a better justice service for everyone. In return we offer you a range of benefits including flexible working, a competitive pension scheme and attractive leave allowance, as well as an extensive range of development opportunities.
We’re passionate about delivering Justice for everybody in the UK. That means having a diverse workforce that fully represents the people we serve so if you have the confidence and desire to make a difference and are interested in applying for this role, please see the Head of Asset Management job description.
