On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to:

  • Either: Own a high priority threat to develop tactical knowledge that will drive forward the prevention and disruption of suspicious and criminal activity OR: be responsible for strategic intelligence analysis and build on the work undertaken to develop our recently completed inaugural Strategic Intelligence Assessment OR be allocated to provide intelligence analysis support to our reactive Law Enforcement and Liaison Team
  • Analyse the available intelligence and information to provide recommendations
  • Focus on the assessment of key threats whilst also identifying new and emerging threats that may need to be addressed in the future.
  • Produce profiles, intelligence assessments and reports

  • Inform understanding of key issues affecting the Register of Companies
  • Develop and maintain an expert level knowledge of analytical methodologies, legislation and specific subject matter expertise
  • Maintain and further develop intelligence flows and relationships with internal and external stakeholders to inform product development.

About the team

It's an exciting time to consider joining our Intelligence Analysis team which was established in 2023 and currently consists of one Senior Intelligence Analyst and five Intelligence Analysts. Expansion of the team means we have newly created Intelligence Analyst posts available, with opportunities to undertake tactical or strategic intelligence analysis. Further expansion of our maturing function is anticipated in the short to medium term.

We have delivered Companies House inaugural Strategic Intelligence Assessment and are currently working on delivery of our Control Strategy identifying proposed actions to fill gaps in our understanding of identified threats. We are working collaboratively with colleagues in our internal Data Science team as well as external law enforcement professionals across a range of policing and civil service contexts. Recent legislative change enables us to take a much more proactive response in relation to tactical workstreams.

Offering opportunities for hybrid working - with office locations in Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast - these new posts will enable the team to continue to develop the range of outputs we can contribute to intelligence analysis. We have recently onboarded with College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Pathway and can therefore provide opportunity for maintenance of existing accreditation - or demonstration of competence for those who have not had opportunity to engage with this form of continuous professional development in existing employment.

To be eligible for this role you also need to meet our Nationality requirements which are outlined below and also successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed. To gain (SC) clearance you will need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years.
