Job summary
The Central Digital and Data Office is part of the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology and leads the Government Digital and Data function for the government. We put the right conditions in place to achieve digital and data transformation at scale by working with departments, and other government functions like commercial, project delivery and security professionals.
We are responsible for:
- Government Digital and Data Strategy and Standards, like the Technology Code of Practice, the Service Standard and Open Standards
- Government Digital and Data performance and assurance, including Spend Controls
- Government Digital and Data Capability Development, including the Government Digital and Data pay framework

The CDDO Domains Team protects public sector domain name spaces such as “.gov.uk”, and ensures that they remain stable, trusted, well managed and resistant to compromise. The team also helps protect the infrastructure tools and services associated with these domains.
Job description
As a Business Relationship Manager in the Domains team you will report to the .gov.uk Supply and Approvals Service Owner, and be responsible for:
- maintaining good relationships with, and being the primary point of contact for .gov.uk Registrars
- working with the .gov.uk Registry Provider to ensure that .gov.uk Registrars meet their obligations to protect the .gov.uk domain names they sell. This includes ensuring they keep Registrants’ contact details up to date
- ensuring that Registrars engage in and provide feedback on proposed changes
- maintaining good relationships with bodies that represent groups of public sector organisations
- processing and approving applications for new .gov.uk domain names, including
- performing identity verification checks
- handling appeals and escalations
- working with the Service Owner to ensure that the guidance that Registrars receive is appropriate and effective
- working with the Service Owner to identify and implement service improvements and efficiencies to improve our capability and automation
- developing a supportive environment for staff, promoting a learning culture of constructive feedback and continuous professional development

Selection process details
This role is being advertised with Manchester or Bristol as a location. There is an exception to this, if a current London-based member of staff from CDDO applies, and is successful, they would retain their London base for pay and allowance purposes.
The standard selection process for roles at CDDO consists of:

- a 60 minute video interview

Candidates that do not pass the interview but have demonstrated an acceptable standard may be considered for similar roles at a lower grade.
A reserve list will be held for a period of 12 months, from which further appointments can be made.

Please note that this role requires SC clearance, which would normally need 5 years’ UK residency in the past 5 years. You may be aware that there are plans for the Government Digital Service (GDS) & the Central Digital & Data Office (CDDO) to move into the Department of Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT). This move is to bring together the digital transformation of public services into one core department. The move itself will offer huge opportunities whilst allowing DSIT to lead the way and drive forward the new Government's digital agenda.
