Selection process details
All our recruitment at Companies House uses the Civil Service Success Profiles framework, which will assess your behaviours, strengths and experience. Our recruitment process is underpinned by recruitment which is fair and open with decisions made on merit, as outlined in the Civil Service Commissioners’ Recruitment Principles.
In your application form we’d like you to:
- Tell us about your employment history, including key responsibilities and achievements.
- Tell us about your qualifications.
- We’d like you to write a personal statement of 750 words where you tell us about why you’d be great for this role – we'd like you to particularly include demonstration of the behaviours: Making Effective Decisions and Delivering at Pace. We would also like you to include your experience of working in a team and fast paced environment.
- To demonstrate the behaviour: Working Together, we'd like you to write a 250 word example of a time when you've worked together with others.
You can find more guidance on completing your application here. We’re committed to being diverse and inclusive, so please make your application anonymous by removing all identifying personal information (such as names and dates) from your employment history and personal statement.
What will the process look like?
- If we get a high number of applications we’ll carry out a pre-sift of applications by reading and scoring the 250 word example you've written about working together with others. Those applications which are successful at pre-sift stage will then progress to the main sift, where we'll read and score the rest of your application. If we don't receive a high number of applications, we'll read and sift your 250 word example of working together with others alongside the rest of your application.
- Successful candidates at sift will be invited to interview, where we’ll explore your skills, experiences, the behaviours mentioned in the advert and your strengths. There may also be an activity as part of the interview process.
Where will you be working?
This role is based in our Cardiff Office. You will be required to attend the office more regularly for the first few weeks for training purposes. Following this you'll be asked to attend the office a minimum of 1 day each week.
Please note, for this role we can offer a minimum of 4 days or 30 hours per week for anyone interested in working part time.
Security Check:
Successful candidates must pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before they can be appointed. BPSS is an entry level security check. It uses the Police National Computer (PNC) to make sure a candidate has no convictions. The check returns evidence of any current criminal record and un-spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed. To gain (SC) clearance you will normally need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years, and will need to successfully complete all stages of the vetting process which includes:
- Baseline Personnel Security Standard
- Departmental/Company Records Check
- Security Questionnaire
- Criminal Record Check
