Job description
We look forward to reading your application for the role of Command Training Lead – Multi Agency Gold Incident Command Course (MAGIC).
The selected candidate will support delivery for the College of Policing’s Multi Agency Gold Incident Command Course (MAGIC). They will have responsibility for the delivery of the multi-agency national course and for any international courses. Depending on experience and other accreditations, the post holder may also be expected to support the delivery of other Strategic / Gold level command / leadership courses.
Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Working in partnership with key stakeholders, including the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) leads and Policing Standards Managers, to set the strategic priorities for the national MAGIC course, working with advisory groups, and taking the chair of, and / or active participation in, relevant working groups.
• Planning, promoting and leading the high-quality delivery of MAGIC courses to agreed quantitative and qualitative specifications and KPIs, deploying Associates and Subject Matter Experts, to optimise cost-efficient delivery against demand, and taking remedial action as needed based on quality assurance trends.
• Delivering and assessing learning and development interventions to agreed content and assessment specifications within a safe learning environment, adapting teaching and materials to meet individual student’s abilities, levels of understanding and learning styles, to ensure all students receive a consistent, high quality learning intervention which addresses their development needs.
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
• To be an occupationally and operationally competent MAGIC Commander
• Demonstrable experience of the strategic management of critical / major incidents.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act, Emergency Response and Recovery guidance

Technical skills
We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
- Occupationally and operationally competent MAGIC Commander
- Demonstrable experience of the strategic management of critical / major incidents.
- Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, establishing and maintaining positive working relationships and removing unnecessary barriers to service delivery.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act, Emergency Response and Recovery guidance.

This is a designated homeworking role however will require regular travel to all College of Policing sites, UK police forces and external organisations.
This role is available for 2 years as a secondment opportunity to current employees of the Fire Service, substantive in the role of Fire Area Manager.
All applicants must have the support of their Chief Officer which must be of NFCC or Chief Executive rank, and this must accompany an application.
