Job description

The Receipt, Evaluation and Development (RED) command are responsible for the handling of all incoming information which includes making an initial assessment within a ministerial target and using intelligence skills and knowledge to determine the most appropriate use of the information, either within the Home Office or beyond. The effectiveness of this response is crucial to ensuring public information is put to best use and contributes to achieving public confidence in the work of Immigration Enforcement. The team work closely with intelligence colleagues across Home Office Intelligence to ensure information is quickly and correctly identified for further development. 

The current building location for this role is Festival Court, Glasgow.

Part-time working

Key responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to):  

Leading a team of Intelligence Officers, guiding, supporting and advising on the day-to-day activity of the team. 
 
Managing and improving overall team performance, ensuring the team operates within legislative guidelines and meets Service Level Agreements for the recording and development of intelligence. 
 
Working in collaboration with partners (internal and external), maintaining existing partnerships as well as identifying and forging new collaborative opportunities and promoting the work of intelligence. 

Working in conjunction with other Intelligence Managers in the unit and beyond to deliver key objectives.  

Managing the day-to-day personnel issues relating to the management of the team, including HR issues.  

Supporting and developing self and the team to ensure continuous professional development and work towards achieving Intelligence Professionalisation Programme accreditation within a reasonable timescale.  

Engaging with transformation projects to improve capability for Home Office Intelligence, driving improvements to current data analytics capabilities and seeking new opportunities to manage data differently.

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in an intelligence, investigation and/or law enforcement environment.
  • Ability to lead and develop diverse teams in a fast-paced environment, taking responsibility for own development.
  • Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment and deliver against competing deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to think, challenging assumptions, demonstrating creativity and being open to change.
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of Home Office Intelligence systems. 
  • Knowledge of the work of the border and immigration systems and policy.

    2. Sift – week commencing 7th October 2024

The sift will be held on the Personal Statement and Behaviour Leadership.

The Personal Statement will be scored for all candidates. Those candidates who achieve the minimum pass score for the Personal Statement will progress to a further sift where the Behaviour Leadership will be scored. These candidates will receive a sift score for both elements. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum pass score for the Personal Statement will not have their Behaviour scored and will only receive a sift score for the Personal Statement.

 Should a high volume of applications be received, the sift will be conducted only on the Personal Statement.

3. Interview – week commencing 4th November 2024

If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview that will be:

  • Behaviours (as listed in the job advert).
