Job description
We are looking for a motivated team player to support the team on RDEL programme and RDEL admin- supporting on allocating these budgets within the Department, and on the Phase 2 bid process. The successful candidate will enjoy using their analytical skills to cut through data to get to the key financial messages and enjoy collaborating with a wide range of teams, both in and outside of Finance.

Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will be:
- Supporting data modelling and scenario planning of budget and workforce data, working collaboratively with colleagues in HR to present options and outputs.
- Leading on reviewing commission returns of the smaller portfolios with the support of the wider team and providing feedback to teams on their returns.
- Performing initial analysis on commission returns and summarising the key headlines and identifying areas that require further scrutiny.
- Supporting wider Finance, HR and Strategy teams with completing papers and briefings for senior stakeholders.
- Supporting on data management in commissions and leading on version control to ensure high data quality.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- The successful candidate must have good attention to detail and strong analytical skills to ensure they are able to identify issues, trends and anomalies in data.
- Have a keen interest in how Finance influences the direction of the Department. This role offers the opportunity to work towards an accountancy qualification if desired.
- Good Microsoft ExCel skills and experience of pivoting large amount of data.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic environment where no day is the same.
- Enjoy making connections throughout the Department and working with a wide network of teams.
Desired:
- Experience of collating data returns and performing analysis on large data sets using power query.
- Knowledge of government spending and budget setting processes.
- Good understanding of Government finance.

Office attendance
The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK. The current expectation for staff is to attend the office or non-home based location for 40-60% of the time over the accounting period.
