Job summary

If you are an inspiring teacher with a passion to empower all to thrive, have personal resilience and a sense of adventure then this is an opportunity for you!

Our vision is that we Educate the Child - Support the Family - Defend the Nation. Children are at the heart of all that we do at Mount Pleasant Primary School. We offer an exciting, enhanced curriculum, enriched by the opportunities of being on the Falkland Islands; the curriculum aims to promote an enthusiasm for learning, personalised education to meet individual needs as well as developing skills and knowledge across all subjects. Our ethos and values underpin school life and are fundamental to all that we do in the close-knit community of Mount Pleasant Complex. We have many years of experience supporting Service families and are determined to make the very best of the short time the children are with us.

We are looking for a dynamic and suitably experienced individual, for whom out values and ethos resonate, to become a class teacher in Mount Pleasant School, initially in KS2.

Mount Pleasant School, situated on Mount Pleasant military complex in the Falkland Islands, provides education for primary children for 3-11 years. This is a small school and at this time there are approximately 26 children on the roll, with numbers varying according to military assignments. Proudly providing education for the children of UK MOD personnel on continuity tours assigned to British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI), the school has excellent facilities, is well resourced and moved to a purpose-build building in November 2019. Mount Pleasant School is situated in the heart of the community close to all the family housing.

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.

This is a full-time class teacher position. Specially recruited for overseas service appointees are not expected to return to the UK.
