Job summary
The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation (MNSI) programme, formerly the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) maternity programme, moved to be hosted by the CQC on the 1 October 2023.
The maternity programme commenced under HSIB in April 2018, following the request from the then Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The programme is part of the overall national maternity ambition to improve maternity safety and reduce harm by 50% by 2025. The programme was fully rolled out across England by April 2019. In 2022, a commitment was made to continue the programme for a further 5 years, there is currently 3 years of this term remaining.
Job description
This is an opportunity to provide clinical leadership to the MNSI programme whilst acting as an ambassador for MNSI at both national and international levels. In addition, the role will be integral to the Programme Leadership Team to support and inform the strategic decision of the programme.
Person specification
Essential qualifications:
- Educated to Masters, or equivalent level of development and experience.
- GMC registration
- Member of a professional body
Essential Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum of five years’ postgraduate experience as a healthcare clinician
- Minimum of five years’ clinical or other related management experience
- A senior figure with the confidence of clinicians and hospital leaders and the ability to win the trust of patients, families and the public.
- Established credibility in their field, and the ability to build a high profile with both the sector and the public.
- Successful track record of significant development work at local and national level
- Detailed experience and understanding of the NHS, and understanding of current healthcare and policy landscape
- Understanding of best practice in investigation principles and process
- Experience of leading safety investigations.
