Job summary

The IT Asset and CMDB manager is a key role in the IT Services (IT Operations) team. This post is responsible for ensuring all our assets and configuration items are accurate and are kept up to date from multiple suppliers, in one central location.

This Role supports the ITIL & CDDO / DDaT Change enablement and operations capabilities.

The IT Asset and CMDB manager role involves managing the lifecycle of IT assets (such as cloud components, hardware, software, licences and warranties), and the configuration of their components. Special consideration is given to the usage, disposal, compliance, inventory, sustainability, cost optimisation and protection of the IT asset portfolio, ensuring products and services are kept in mainstream support and a forward roadmap is maintained to ensure upgrades are completed ahead of time.

In doing so this will help ensure the smooth running of our infrastructure and services, helping to ensure maximum performance and reliability for our customers. This role will support the Service management (SIAM) function by helping to correctly categorise incidents, problems and changes against the right IT configuration components and help identify problems of affected services across the IT estate.

Person specification

Essential skills and experience 

  • Proven experience in IT asset management and CMDB administration.
  • Good understanding of ITIL V4 framework and best practices.
  • Familiarity with asset management tools and CMDB platforms, preferably ServiceNow
  • Experience of working in an outsourced environment with an “outputs-based” operating model.
  • Effective communication and advocacy skills.
  • Experience of working in financial services. 

Essential technical knowledge 

  • Deep understanding of IT Infrastructure, including cloud, software components.
  • In Depth technical knowledge of asset management and CMDB platforms
  • ITIL V4

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or proven in-depth work experience in the field of asset & configuration management.
• Relevant certifications in ITIL V4, CMDB, or IT Asset Management.

If shortlisted you will be invited to attend a 1 hour panel interview via video call.

Working for NS&I

NS&I is currently working in a hybrid way with colleagues expected to work in the office for 40% of their working month and this will be increasing to 60% of their working month in the summer of 2024.  If you are applying to work in London, the role is currently based in Sanctuary Buildings, Great Smith Street, SW1P 3BT and in summer 2024 it is anticipated that NS&I will be moving out of Sanctuary Buildings and into another office within central London.
