Job summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. 

 We have an exciting opportunity working within a small and highly specialised logistics team based in Anglesey. Our Stores Accountant role is responsible for all materiel procurement and accounting on MoD software. You will be the co-coordinator of multiple agency receipts and deliveries, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient management of adventurous training clothing and equipment critical to training.

You will work within a dynamic and wide-ranging workforce, delivering a highly valued and continuous training output into Defence. Job description

We are looking for a motivated individual responsible for the maintenance and delivery of the supply function within a busy and geographically displaced team. These responsibilities will include:

  • Assure the integrity of our Inventory by acting as the Authorised Administrator, liaising with other storekeepers within the team.
  • Order, receive, check, and allocate all clothing and equipment.
  • Populate a documented record of all stores and accountable items.
  • Maintain professional relationships with manufacturers, suppliers and retailers.
  • Arrange and participate in the delivery and or collection of equipment within the Department.
  • Frequently move and transport boxes weighing up to 25kg.
  • Other tasks identified by the line manager, commensurate with skills, knowledge and experience.

The successful applicant must be able to attend role specific courses at various training establishments.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Strong inter-personal skills – able to build internal and external working relationships in person and virtually.
  • Excellent attention to detail specifically in literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own time and tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Physically capable of undertaking manual handling activities.

Desirable:

  • Proficient in the use of IT and the full suite of Microsoft Applications, namely Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
  • A knowledge of clothing and equipment used in outdoor adventurous activities is highly advantageous.
