You will bring your experience, creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative approach to ensure we can optimise the organisation, bringing us ever closer to our vision for 2038 by ensuring we have the right skills, capabilities, structures, ways of working, and culture needed for us to thrive.
Using your collaborative and inclusive leadership skills you’ll lead a small team driving excellence in organisational design, development, and change.
As someone who is curious and committed to learning, you’ll bring fresh, innovative ideas from outside the organisation as well as build on and encourage innovative practice from within, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This is a pivotal position ensuring The National Archives is equipped to navigate future challenges, and able to adapt to external demands and government drivers.

This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department. A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.

You will be asked to provide details of your work experience and write a personal statement. In your personal statement please explain, using examples, how you meet the essential criteria given below. You may draw on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience gained from paid work, domestic responsibilities, education, leisure interests and voluntary activities. Please note selection for interview will largely be based on the information you provide in this section.
Essential Criteria
1. Extensive experience of delivering successful, inclusive organisational design and development and/or cultural change / transformation initiatives within a complex organisation.
2. Deep understanding, and practical application of organisational change management principles and methodologies (including organisational design) that have a positive impact on the organisation and its culture.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills: able to manage the expectations of and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders achieving buy-in to complex processes and gain consensus in the face of resistance or conflict.
4. Ability to analyse, and problem solve, evaluating and mitigating risks which have an impact on The National Archives’ strategic direction, showing a balanced approach to decision-making.
5. Passionate about learning, change and innovation; collaborative approach, with proven ability to lead, influence, coach, support and motivate multi- disciplinary teams fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
6. Experience in developing and implementing talent management and development initiatives, with evidence of applying organisational development and learning and development theories, models, and best practice to drive organisational effectiveness and change.
7. Relevant qualifications in organisational design, development, change management or a related field, or the equivalent level of experience.
