Job summary

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (the permanent duty station is currently Air Command, High Wycombe although alternative locations can be discussed), and working from home as a personal choice.  If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post. There will be a requirement to travel to other stations and locations as part of this role.

Job description

The successful applicant for this post will contribute to the output of the RAF Engineering and Logistics Catering Operations team, engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Act as liaison for catering policy, offering professional advice and guidance to RAF Logistics Officers in catering appointments and TG19 Chefs in all aspects of catering policy.

  2. Undertake annual paper audits of Station Messing accounts and Crown Feeder accounts, including Unit visits to conduct on-site audits and offer specialist accounting advice as required.

  3. Monitor the timely submission of electronic Station Messing accounts and Crown Feeder accounts.

  4. Lead, compile, and complete the food appendix to the Command Acquisition Support Plan, ensuring that forecasts are reviewed and updated, and any surge requirements are notified to Defence Food Service through the Station Catering Facilities.

  5. Monitor and co-ordinate Air Command TLB operational ration packs, operational ration heaters and emergency flying ration requests, and submit the annual requirement to Defence Food Service through Army HQ.

  6. Act as focal point for all JSP456 amendments. Attend meetings as required with Assistant Chief of Defence Staff Logistics Operations (ACDS Log (Ops)) to review and propose amendments.

  7. Assist SO3 Eng&Logs Cat Ops and GHS and SNCO In-Flt Cat with assurance and governance of in-flight catering billing and auditing of accounts, as required.

  8. Represent Air Command at the Tri-Service Food Working Group, and advise senior leadership on Steering Group contributions.

  9. Assist with other tasks as determined by SO2 Eng&Logs Cat Ops and GHS.


Some travel will be required.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.  This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
