Job summary
The Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Advisor (HSEP) is based at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre(DMRC) Stanford Hall. DMRC provides state of the art clinical rehabilitation to injured Military personnel. The post requires an individual able to work collaboratively and independently with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external to DMRC, to ensure appropriate governance, assurance and the right systems and processes are in place.
The HSEP Advisor will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to guide and advise on an effective programme that enables the delivery of on and off site activities, ensuring appropriate training is in place and promoting a positive safety culture. The role can be fast paced, varied and multi-faceted and covers the entirety of the DMRC Estate area.
Strategic Command Transformation

As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. Job description
The role of Health, Safety and Environmental Prevention Advisor for DMRC Stanford Hall has a portfolio of responsibilities across the Estate. The HSEP role is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Ministry Of Defence, Defence Medical Services (DMS) and United Kingdom Strategic Command Health, Safety,Environmental Protection and Climate Change and Sustainability (CC&S) Policies and National legislation at DMRC Stanford Hall. The HSEP is responsible for reporting functional matters directly to the DMRC Senior Command Structure, facilitating all & CC&S matters across DMRC and providing support and assistance to managers and staff on occupational and safety matters in the workplace and for the Estate, alongside providing assurance and guidance to the Head of Establishment as the Duty Delivery holder for DMRC.
The HSEP is to provide local level Defence Unified Reporting and Lessons System Accident monitoring and Risk Assessment advice and guidance, ensuring all Site Risk Assessments and Environmental Risk Assessments (ERA) are conducted, recorded and reviewed as required and maintain the ERA Signification Aspect Register. The HSEP will act as the (SME) on Risk, Health, Safety and Environmental Protection and as the DMRC Radiation Safety Officer.
The position requires a motivated individual to work within DMRC, highly organised, confident in using IT and have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
This is a full-time only role offered at 37 hours per week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as a host for any MOD external inspectors such as Health and Safety executive, Local Authority Environmental Health Auditors.
- Provide an annual review of Health and Safety Organisation and Arrangements policy statement, DMRC Safety, health and environmental management systems.
- Assist event organisers in risk assessments and review external providers insurances.
- Ensure contractors complete required actions where applicable.
