The role of the Campus Manager is instrumental in identifying and clarifying the people priorities for the Dover & South-East (D&SE) Campus. The role seeks to work across functional and business boundaries to facilitate an improved employee experience. 

As the Campus Manager, you will report to and support the Deputy Campus Lead with developing the D&SE SCS, Site Managers and Campus communities across nine sites. This will be done through developing and delivering a communications and engagement plan, including engagement meetings, activities and events – both virtually and in person. 

Job description

The Campus Team is a small team with a big vision to make Dover & Southeast a great place to work, with the aim of creating open dialogue between colleagues in various government agencies and to encourage and foster a diverse culture of team working. 

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  
• Acting as a Secretariat for the D&SE SCS Strategic Group and Site Managers Forum.

• Being responsible for developing the Campus Site Manager community, finding innovative ways to share knowledge and experience and foster a positive culture through visits, communications and hosting regular in-person meetings, taking minutes and actions.

• Developing and maintaining a positive professional relationship with colleagues across a range of audiences. 

• Drafting effective communications based on the emerging or reactive needs of an operational campus, coordinating input from multiple sources.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to understand their engagement and communication needs.  

• Supporting the delivery of planned communication and engagement activities for the Campus. This could involve tasks such as generating ideas, event planning & logistics, communicating with stakeholders and facilitating events. 
 
• Leading on improving the working experience and facilities across the Campus.

• Line management of one EO grade team member providing support, direction and development. 

Working Pattern
This role is suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 30 hours or 4 days per week.

Travel
You must be willing to travel frequently and some out of hours work may be required for this role depending on business needs.

Essential criteria

• Sound interpersonal, communication skills; being able to utilise these both verbally and across a wide range of written tasks.

• Strong relationship building skills with a range of audiences, including the ability to confidently engage with senior leaders and able to manage upwards.

• Experience of working in a high-pressure environment.

• Able to continuously manage and evaluate the success of initiatives and activities.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of working in a communications/engagement role, private office or secretariat role.

• Project delivery experience.

Selection process details

After submission of this first stage, you will be invited to complete the following Civil Service Judgement test.

1. Online Test – by 21st November 2024 

If you successfully pass the Judgement test, you will be invited to complete the full application form. Please complete the online test as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended). If you fail to complete the online test or full application before the deadline, your application will be withdrawn.

Guidance for the Civil Service test, will be available when you are invited to take the test. The tests are administered online and accessed via the Civil Service Jobs website.

You cannot complete the tests on a mobile phone or tablet.

Following successful completion of your test, you will then be asked to complete the full application form.

2. Application – by 21st November 2024

 As part of the application process, you will be asked to complete:

  • Personal Statement (maximum 750 words).
  • Evidence of the Behaviour - Working Together (maximum of 250 words per Behaviour).

The Personal Statement should be aligned to and demonstrate how you meet the skills and experience set out in the essential criteria, detailed in the job description.

3. Sift – week commencing 25th November 2024

The sift will be held on the Personal Statement and Behaviour - Working Together.

The Personal Statement will be scored for all candidates. Those candidates who achieve the minimum pass score for the Personal Statement will progress to a further sift where the Behaviour - Working Together will be scored. These candidates will receive a sift score for both elements. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum pass score for the Personal Statement will not have their Behaviour scored and will only receive a sift score for the Personal Statement.

4. Interview – week commencing 16th December 2024

If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview that will be:

  • Behaviours (as listed in the job advert) and Strength based questions.

The interview will take place on MS Teams.

In addition, candidates will be asked to prepare a presentation that will be delivered at interview. The presentation will be tested against 'Behaviours' on the 'Success Profiles' and will be specifically assessed against the Behaviour Working Together. The presentation question/scenario will be disclosed closer to the interviews.
