Job summary

Predannack Airfield is a strategically important airfield location for the training of rotary winged aircrew, firefighters and increasingly, the development of uncrewed air systems and training of UAS operators. As the primary Operations liaison you will engage with Military, Civilian and Commercial Stakeholders in order to co-ordinate, plan and prioritise their varied requirements whilst considering schedules maintenance requirements, directly influencing the safe operations of both crewed and uncrewed air systems.

This is a full-time role consisting of 37 hours per week and will involve working between both RNAS Predannack and RNAS Culdrose. Due to the hours of availability and flexibility required for the frequency to travel between sites at short notice, this post is not suitable for part-time.

Job description

Working within the Air Operations Team, providing administrative and functional support and facilitating the engagement between operating units and other support providers co-ordinating and prioritising the use of Predannack within the programmed operating periods; including, but not limited to: -

  • Operations - Prioritising our own Squadrons, the Predannack Operations Officer will work closely with other users, including commercial enterprises, assisting with air and land based operating enquiries and activity to co-ordinate the Predannack flying programme. They will assist Duty Air Traffic Control Officer on site with logging activities, including opening/closing pre and post checks, engagement with Culdrose Air Traffic Control on aircraft movements, handling telephone enquiries and other reactive tasks delegated by Duty Air Traffic Controller. During the course of their duties there will be the requirement for some electronic file management and records maintenance, including production of presentation slides, data entry and consolidation and collation of statistics, ensuring all documentation is stored in the correct way with the correct classification.
  • Airfield Management - The important safety duties monitoring and defect reporting of runways, security gates and fence lines, windsocks and signage and alongside any flying hazards observed. Liaising with Station Infrastructure Management on projects and maintenance programs to ensure proper estate management and stewardship.  Maintaining access and key records alongside other routine administrative tasks. Acting as the airfield visitor Co-ordinator, provide consultation and supervision as appropriate. You will participate in multi-agency meetings and provide input into weekly briefings.
  • Building Management – Conduct asset and building inspections, fire testing, defect reporting and maintenance monitoring. Collaborate with service partners as necessary to promptly deal with security and hazard issues.

Secondary duties - Culdrose Air Operations Assistant.

This role will initially require the post holder to undertake a period of on the job training within Culdrose Air Operations to become familiar with systems and procedures and build competence in specific aspects of the role and airfield environments.

During quieter operating periods and to fulfil workforce requirement, the post holder maybe required periodically to work within Culdrose Air Operations.

Additional related responsibilities maybe assigned as required.

This is a largely independent position within a supportive team who share similar roles and responsibilities. You will need to be proficient in the use of MS Office applications, specifically Outlook and Word. SharePoint administration will also form part of the role, but this training will be provided on site. Additional training in the form of airfield, vehicle and frequency communications will be provided on site.

Applicants are required to hold a current drivers' license as there is a requirement to travel between sites and as required on the airfields in MOD vehicles in all weather and throughout the year.

The successful post holder is required to meet the medical colour perception requirements of CP2 or CP3 defective.

Licences

UK Driving License Cat B Manual is a mandatory requirement for this role.
